Severely hit by the Covid-19, most cultural activities have been cancelled since the 2020. Cultural venues are locked down, schools are suspended and people are distanced. Co-curated by Cy Leo and Keith Lam, The Enlightened Classics is a music project originated from a classical repertoire, substantially involving multi-media design and light installations, to project his hope and faith towards the recovery of our city with a cohort of top caliber musicians of his generation.
Project Details
Every cloud has a silver lining. The Enlightened Classics represents an artistic projection of how Leo and Keith intend to portrait our city. Despite all these depressing months under the Covid-19, music will continue to serve as a beacon, lighting up our way forward. Realising its vision, Leo strategically develops a programme from world-known classical masterpieces, then adapted to modern rearrangements. He then partners multi-media designer Keith LAM to bring in new artistic components to further develop new possibilities of these all-time favourite and classics among the members of the public.
As a 45-minute online programme, Cy Leo developed his classical-based programme with his continual and indispensable cohort, which has been toured to different parts of the world. Featuring all local top caliber instrumentalists, the performance included a number of world renowned classical masterpieces arranged in contemporary presentations, and delivered via the concerted efforts among all the instrumentalists and multi-media applications. Highlighting its feature of juxtaposition, Leo intends to pour the old wine into the new bottle, which best-known melodies and pieces among the public, will be presented in line with light installations and projections, bringing new insights to members of public appreciating and re- visiting these all-time classics.
The project is unique as its overall experience was augmented by an extensive and artistic application of multi-media projection, light installations and design. Partnering renowned multi-media designer and curator Keith LAM, Leo collaboratively designed an immersive concert experience that blends the two art disciplines, sparkling new chemistry and surprising fermentation to the audiences. The marriage of the two disciplines enable audiences to experience music with different sensations and performative elements through articulated multi-media designs.
